Helicopter tours now available in Milwaukee. How much do the flights cost and where do they go?

If you have ever been awed by the beauty of Milwaukee’s skyline and wondered what downtown may look like from 1,000 feet, you may soon be able to find out.

A private helicopter company, MyFlight Tours, has announced it is now doing tours in the Milwaukee area. It’s the first location in the state for Wisconsin MyFlight Tours and the company is already scheduling flights.

What is MyFlight Tours?

My flight tours was started in 2019 by Michigan husband and wife, Sergio and Cassandra Troiani. Initially focused on doing flights in Detroit and Grand Rapids the couple saw such quick success that they started looking to expand into other markets.

“We kind of started doing it on top of our full-time jobs and then it slowly turned into one of the largest tour operations in Michigan and so we figured it was the perfect time to expand outside of Michigan,” said Cassandra Troiana, co-founder of MyFlight Tours.

The company recently moved into Tennessee where it conducts tours of Knoxville and the Smoky Mountains. The company started offering flights in Milwaukee Jan. 29.

Jacob Murray, a helicopter pilot with MyFlight Tours flies the helicopter during a tour over the Milwaukee area on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023. The company has started booking helicopter sightseeing tours around the metro Milwaukee area that range from 10 to 35 miles in total flight distance near and beyond the Milwaukee skyline, depending on the flight package purchased. The rides range from $55-$150 per person and take off from a private lot near the Milwaukee Mitchell Airport on Layton Avenue.

How much is a tour?

MyFlight Tours offers three flight options at $55, $100 and $150 per passenger, with a maximum of three passengers per trip.

MyFlight Tours also offers modifications, such as removing the doors of the helicopter for a price of $100. Custom tours are also available and price will be adjusted according to route.

Flights can be booked at myflighttours.com.

What routes do tours take?

The flights determined by distance with the cheapest tour reaching the Hoan Bridge and lasting 5-7 minutes and the most expensive opinion snaking around Milwaukee’s skyline for a flight that lasts approximately 15-20 minutes.

“The great thing about each tour is that we have designed them to go right downtown and so even on our shorter tours we are able to offer a really cool experience,” Troiani said.

When are flights held?

For the time being, MyFlight Tours is only operating on the weekends from 3 p.m. to 8:40 p.m. The company plans to expand to a Wednesday through Sunday schedule in the future.

The company has also said that it sometimes offers flights on holidays like the Fourth of July and New Years if interest is high enough.

Why Milwaukee?

With initial success coming in Detroit, Troiani said that moving into another popular Midwest city was a natural next step for the burgeoning business.

“We think Milwaukee is a really cool city and we know others do to so we wanted to come into the city and provide a unique experience to anyone who may be interested in seeing the city in a different way,” Troiani said.

From the Milwaukee Art Museum to the Mitchell Park Domes, Troiani said there is no shortage of things to see on a Milwaukee flight.
